Derived from the resin of the Styrax tree, benzoin extract has a warm, sweet, vanilla-like aroma. The resin is obtained by making incisions in the bark of the tree, then collecting it as it oozes out and hardens into lumps. Whilst benzoin has a beautiful aroma on its own, it is often included in a composition as a fixative, slowing down the evaporation of other more volatile oils and making it an essential natural base note in many fragrances. This oil is certified organic and pourable (both rare qualities for the material) due to the benzoin being infused in organic coconut oil.
